The persistence of economic crisis in several developing countries has led to the reconsideration of state’s role that came along with a privatization wave which was characterized by the dismantling of local monopoly. For many governments, this privatization should improve the performance of formal public enterprises which considerably contributed to states’ decline, and should permit to those states to reduce their public deficit. This research brings an additional lighting on privatizations’ efficacy by evaluating their impact on some Cameroonian enterprises through a comparison between theoretical conceptions and empirical investigation.

Our results suggest that privatization has improved the performance of our sample’s enterprises. However, we suggest that these results should be taken with more caution first of all because of methodological bias link to the research but also and particularly because of the reliability’s of collected data problem.
